TK: TKM not useless?

I started a TKM to leech my main characters, however with renewal a lot of people say it is useless because you have to change leveling maps a lot more often and stopping at level 99 prevents use for any 3rd jobs. So I was about to delete it to make something else (she is 55 / 1 now) but in the last week I've seen a dozen or so TKM out and about. Are they not as useless as I am told?
