Politics: How many of you guys have Verizon?

Turns out the NSA gets daily records of every single Verizon call.

To be fair, they have the exact same agreement with Sprint and AT&T, but the court order for those two carriers haven't been leaked yet.

The NSA also has records of every single conversation, video chat, login etc from pretty much every social media/messenger service.

While the cell phone court orders only cover phone calls within the USA or phone calls with one end in the USA and the other abroad, the Prism system apparently splits the raw fiber-optic data and sends a copy to the NSA. This targets all information ROUTED through US internet infrastructure (which is lots), regardless of where the data originated or is going.

At the end of the day, I'd imagine most people already knew this was happening (despite government officials denying it until they were blue in the face), but being able to actually see the proof is interesting. But I'm sure somewhere there's a collection of people who are fuming because the "libtard conspiracy theorists" were vindicated.

In any case, it's cool that this whole story broke a few days before Obama was supposed to go chew out China for doing pretty much the exact same thing.
