Crusader: Stone Buckler +6 Extra Def only with set?

Hi all,

I was wondering if the +6 DEF bonus you get from a Stone Buckler if you are a swordsman class applies to the Stone Buckler by itself or only if you have the rest of the set (with Odin's Blessing and Magni's Cap)?
