about RWC 2012 ring slot

I talk with the RWC Enchanter, he says that enchant has a chance to fail but won't lose the ring.....but about slot, he doesn't mention the failure...

i want ask does it has change to fail when slotted the ring?
if fail, will the ring be destoried?
